rDNA Grant Program
Grant Goals:
The Rare Disease Network of Alberta (rDNA) is committed to advancing equitable access to care and empowerment for individuals living with rare diseases. This grant program is designed to offer targeted patient support.

Eligibility Criteria
Resident of Alberta (exceptions may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis)
Diagnosis of a rare disease or undergoing diagnostic work-up for one
Demonstrated need for support as outlined in the application
Application must include:
Patient contact info
Project summary (travel purpose)
Budget breakdown
Patient advocacy group reference (optional but may be required)
Conference Travel Support:
- Funding for patients to attend conferences, symposiums, or training opportunities directly related to their rare disease indication.
- Applicants must be residents of Alberta (exceptions may be considered on a caseby-case basis).
- A letter of support or recommendation from a recognized patient advocacy group may be required.
- This funding aims to enhance patient knowledge, connection to advocacy communities, and peer support.
Funding Parameter:
- Maximum $1,500 per application
- Maximum $3,000 per calendar year
- Funds will not cover salaries, lost wages, or retroactive reimbursements
- Funds will not be paid out directly to applicants unless appropriate receipts or pre-approval documentation is provided.
